Pika Peak & Brachiopod & Anthozoan

Jon and I woke up early on September 6 2005 to clear skies and started up the trail to Hidden Lake and the slopes of Pika Peak.

Stephen, Mount

On August 20, 2005 Sonny and I scrambled up over 1900 meters from the town of Field, BC to the summit of Mount Stephen. The weather was a beautiful, clear 20 degrees with a light south breeze keeping us cool for most of the day.

Smuts, Mount & The Fist

On an early (0430) August 6 2005 morning, I joined Dave Stephens and Blair Piggot on a full day trip to scramble Mount Smuts and The Fist in Kananaskis Country.

Engadine, Mount

There are two reasons why Kane rated Mount Engadine as a difficult scramble. One is the nature of the ridge itself. Long sections of ‘no-fall’ zones coupled with loose rock and tricky down climbs make this a much more difficult climb than even other difficult scrambles such as Lady McDonald.

Galwey, Mount

Mount Galwey is an excellent scramble in Waterton Lakes National Park in southern Alberta. I thought it deserved its difficult rating simply because a slip on the crux would have been very painful.

Ward, Mount & Allison & Window

Mount Ward was an enjoyable scramble in the Crowsnest Pass area. It presented very few difficulties and was  quite easy to find.

Dolomite Peak

Sonny sent me an email on Monday saying that he was planning to do a scramble on Friday evening and wondering if I was interested. Duh! Of course I was!

Gap Mountain

Friday afternoon found me scrambling up this short but enjoyable mountain. I thought for sure I would run into a bear given my record this year so I made plenty of noise on the lower slopes!

Wedge, The

What a beautiful day!! I scrambled all year to enjoy a day like this! Due to a lingering cold for the past 2 weeks the climb was tough.

Tyrwhitt & Pocaterra, Mount

Another beautiful day in the Rockies. This time it was just Jon, Kev and me. We got to the Highwood Pass around 0900 and proceeded down the path to the Grizzly Col.

Big Sister (Faith Peak)

I did this one on my own while skipping out on work on a beautiful Friday! There really isn’t a choice between work or scrambling, especially on a day like today.

Lady MacDonald, Mount

The morning is fresh as I step out of the Beast and start preparing my hiking gear. My heart is beating a rhythm of anticipation as I inhale the sharp mountain air in the empty parking lot.
