Hector on the hike through the burn regrowth above the Chaba. A Sid Marty book I have dates the burn to the 1960’s so travel up the hillside was fairly easy in the young, open forest. Fun fact: Hector’s final resting place eventually turned out to be beside that Chaba backwater visible in this photo on a much later trip when he finally gave up the ghost from old age. 9 years and two months is a long life for a Great Dane.
