In the spring of 1999 we went with a group from the office. At the time I thought that this was one of the only peaks that you could do without ropes and climbing gear. Little did I know that there are hundreds and hundreds of peaks in the Rockies that can be done with only a good set of lungs and some mountain ‘smarts’. It took me a few years, but as a prairie boy I fell in love with mountains and never looked back.

In 2009 I went back up Ha Ling with my family and our small Pomeranian dog. This should indicate how ‘easy’ Ha Ling is, especially nowadays with the beaten trail.
