Trip Report

A popular and short outing that ends with a fantastic view of the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. We hiked up rough trails on the southeast part of the mountain in about an hour and descended via the road that extends almost to the peak.

The road is closed in the morning so that people like us can enjoy the mountain without cars / tourists clogging up the atmosphere.

Highly recommended - especially as a morning hike.

The views start to open up part way up the mountain already:
Great views of the Pacific looking east from part way up:

Very near the summit with the city of Victoria spread out beneath us:

The walk down was very pleasant along the road - because it was still closed to traffic! :-)
