As promised, here's some more info and pics on my favorite ski ascent yet - White Pyramid.
We started out at 0400 from Calgary to get an early start and hopefully beat isothermic snow on the way out. We didn't count on spending an hour bushwhacking on skis and trying to cross a flowing Mistaya River though!
Once we managed to get across the Mistaya (we should have parked further down 93 - oh well), we made good time up the steep approach. We were following tracks made by Al and co. the day before, which made things a bit easier.
On Al's advice we went right to the back of the approach valley till it got stupid on skis. We ditched the skis about 50 vertical meters below the col and boot packed it up. Once on the ridge we still had around 600 vertical to go - and it felt like it by the time we finally got to the summit!
The views were mind blowing and only rivaled by the unbelievable ski down - better than Hector was two weeks ago if you can believe that!
Here's some more pics (more at http://verndewit.com/p1002391574):
