Solo scrambled on Sunday. Probably an alpine climb, because I needed to cross a glacier for a short part. I read somewhere that people scramble this and avoid the glacier. Not sure how you could do this from the North. One could possibly circumnavigate the glacier on the left side, but it looked REALLY ugly. All in all a very enjoyable day out and highly recommended. The ball bearing rocks on polished slab below the glacier proved to be a challenge and as a result I took a pretty good fall. I managed to walk out but in a fair bit of pain from where I landed on a rock on my Thigh. Still waiting for the massive bruise to show.

The drainage to the south towards Hector lake looks very inviting for exploration.

That would be interesting to see in the summer.
Glad that wasn't a more serious fall.

Thanks Bill, I think my ego is more bruised than anything. I am already planning my climb for this weekend, so either my brain and hip are not talking or I am just a sucker for punishment.

BTW, I am looking for partners to climb Victoria and/or Assiniboine sometime between August 6th and 13th. Interested? or know of someone who is.

My usual group seems to be either injured or work is getting in the way. Anyway, would love to meet some new climbers who are looking to put on a rope from time to time and don't mind walking on glaciers.

Might be interested in Victoria during that time period(I have done Assiniboine) I am juggling work, family and a sore hamstring so usually can't commit until the last minute.
Would the plan be overnight at hut and then climb ridge and come down by way of Huber?

Scott,
I should have invited you to come with us on the weekend to Vic and Huber. It was last minute planning (Friday afternoon) though so I didn't think about your previous post.

I'm interested in Assiniboine. Let's talk more later in the week. I have all next week off work, and at this point I'm fairly open.

Hey Jason, no worries. I only had Sunday available anyway. My wife and my youngest (23 months) and I walked up to upper, upper Galatea lake on Saturday.

With her and all the kids gone from the 6th to the 16th, I will be looking to get out anytime (midweek or weekend) for almost anything (rock, alpine, scramble, etc.).

Send me an email directly to scottcberry@shaw.ca and lets see if we can align ourselves to go bag something. Are you downtown at all this week?
